Through various fundraising events, SWIAHU has been able to provide annual funding to a local charity.
Most notably, over the years, our Annual Christmas Party and Silent Auction held as our December meeting has provided funding for Impact Chistian Ministries.
2010
SWIAHU was pleased to present a check of $500.00 to Impact Christian Health Center, Wednesday, March 10. This is such a worthy organization that provides much needed primary care and dentistry to the uninsured and underinsured citizens of the Tri State area. Starr Martin, Executive Director, took Jane Haag, Brenda Rehl, Jill Ross and Elizabeth Trent on a tour of the facility and provided much insight into the history and current state of the organization. One very interesting note, due to the economy, they are seeing an dramatic change in the socioeconomic level of the clients coming to the clinic for services. An average client in the past might have an average income of $12- 15,000/year for a family of four is now a recently laid off middle class client, Even with ARRA help with COBRA premiums, recently unemployed people are struggling to make COBRA payments and are turning to Impact to continue care for chronic illnesses. We are lucky to live in a community that has a safety net in place.
We should be proud of our organization and our members!
