Duties of the Treasurer:
• Receives and deposits all checks.
• Maintains financial aspect of the chapter.
• Processes invoices, contributions and
reimbursements.
• Balances checkbook and handles audits.
• Prepares a treasurer report to be presented at board meetings.
• Files form 990-Return of Organized Exempt from Income Tax (to be filed by the 15th of each
year).
It is time to start collecting all of those needed deductions for taxes. Did you know a portion of your NAHU dues are tax deductible?
IRS rules dictate that monies spent on lobbying costs cannot be deducted as a business expense. However a portion of your dues can be deducted.
For Southwest Indiana AHU members here is a breakout of deductions:
SWIAHU Dues: $45.00
ISAHU Dues: $26.00
NAHU Dues: $146.25
Total allowable dues: $217.25
You may claim this amount on your 2009 tax returns as a business expense.
